Vera "Tommie" Love

Tommie was born in the Crossroads community of Paulding County on December 2, 1940 to the late Mr. James Jacob “Jake” Grogan and the late Mrs. Vera Mae Brock Grogan. Tommie retired from Lockheed Martin in 2003, where she worked in Labor Relations. A Christian, she was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church. Tommie’s favorite pastime was working in her yard with her plants and flowers. Tommie’s most beloved companion was her dog, Cola Mae.

In addition to her parents, Tommie is preceded in death by seven siblings: Mrs. Irma Anderson, Mr. Caston Grogan, Mrs. Jean Holbert, Mr. Frank Grogan, Mr. J.P. Grogan, Mrs. Margie Turner, and Mrs. Carolyn Saunders.

Tommie is survived by her partner in life for the past 18 years, Michael McKinzey, two children, Mrs. Teri (David) McKinney of Oakwood, Mr. Chris (Julie) Moore of Loganville, three grandchildren Miss Samantha Skaggs, Miss Jessica Moore, and Mr. Josh Moore, sister Mrs. Doris Wright of Heflin, AL, and special friend Mrs. Tammy Weaver, several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends also survive.

A funeral service will be held for Tommie Love at Crossroads Baptist Church 78 Old Dallas Acworth Road, Dallas, GA 30312 on Tuesday, December 14 at 12:30pm with the Reverend Harold Turner and Reverend Mike Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the Crossroads Baptist Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10am to noon on Tuesday, December 14 at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home at 2950 North Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, Georgia 30152, prior to the funeral service.

Additionally, a memorial service will be held for Tommie Love at Flat Creek Baptist Church 5504 Flat Creek Road, Gainesville, Georgia 30504 for her local friends on Wednesday, December 15 at 11am with Reverend Mike Taylor and Reverend Zack Williams officiating.
