Vernon Jack Lanier, 92, of Acworth, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2013. Funeral service is Wednesday, October 9, 2pm at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw. Burial will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Acworth. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8pm and Wednesday beginning at 12 pm until service hour at the funeral home.
Mr. Lanier owned, and operated, Lanier Jewelry in Acworth for 24 years and was a Navy veteran having served during WWII, and obtained the rank of Petty Officer. He was a member of the Acworth First Baptist Church and Acworth Masonic Lodge #176. Mr. Lanier retired in 1975 and for 20 years left Acworth for Rocky Face where he enjoyed being a farmer, but once his grandchildren came along, he moved back to Acworth. The one hobby he truly loved was paintball, and he played it up to age 91. Mr. Lanier will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him.
Those who survive are his sons – Ron and wife Sharalee Lanier, and Mike and wife Michele Lanier, brother – Felton Lanier and sister – Venneda Lanier. Four grandchildren also survive - Paige, Lauren, Casey, and Corey.
