

Acworth – William H. Lienhop, 73, passed away on April 15, 2026, after a short battle with cancer, at home with loved ones by his side. He was born on June 8, 1952, in the Bronx, New York, the eldest son of Bill and Delores R. Lienhop.
Bill joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 on February 3, 1970 and traveled the world during his service. After retiring from the Navy on February 24, 1992, he departed from the USS Wisconsin in Norfolk, Virginia. He then devoted his life to his family, friends, and fellow veterans.
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, the VFW, and the Fleet Reserve Association. He served for several years as Post Commander of American Legion Post 160. He also served as 5th District Commander from 2012 to 2013 and as Department of Georgia Commander from 2013 to 2014. Additionally, he served the VFW as an All-American Commander of Post 5408.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Darlene; his children, Billy, Chris, and Brian Lienhop, and Jackie (Joseph) Thomason; as well as 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his siblings: Linda Lienhop, Ricky Lienhop, Laura (Eric) Dorr, Glenn (Darlene) Lienhop, and Dianne McCallum; his mother-in-law, Louise Parker; sister-in-law, Melody Parker; and brother-in-law, Allen Parker (Lisa), along with several nieces and nephews.
A service in remembrance will be held at Winkenhofer Funeral Home in Kennesaw, Georgia. Interment will follow at Pine Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery in Kennesaw.
Following the burial, a celebration and reception will be held at Post 304 in Acworth.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
