

It is with great saddness that we announce the passing of Angela after a courageous battle to cancer with her loving husband, her children, family and friends by her side. Memegawansi is a resident of Naotkamegwanning First Nation passed away on June 9, 2017 at Lake of the Woods hospital at the age of 47.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years Rene, and their children Nylin, Logan, Rainy, Willie & Willis, Shelby. Grandchildren Amber, Tyler, Athryn, Carter, Jayce, Spencer, Amaris, Vander. Her siblings Joey, Guy, Paula, Paul, Michelle, Bronson and her mother Kathy Copenace. She was predeceased by her father Thomas Paypompee Sr. Her nieces and nephews will miss presence. She will be sadly missed by all her numerous cousins, mother in-law Liza Medicine and father in-law Clarence White Sr., friends, co-workers, and she loved being with her family and celebrating special holidays, she will be remembered by all the love and laughter she brought to our life.
Angel was born in Dryden, Ontario and raised in Naotkamegwanning First Nation. She loved sewing, arts and crafts, camping, golfing, watching her favorite hockey team Winnipeg Jets, travelling to pow-wows as well as dancing. She absolutely loved going out on the lake to go fishing and ice fishing. Angel loved working at Shawendasowen Family Services for 10 years; her love for the community involved with many activities, such as, drug awareness walk with co-workers, organized the Seven Grand Fathers awards to community members, and her volunteered work & time in numerous activities. She recently graduated with a Diploma in Community First Nation Management and enjoyed her time as a member with the Saa-Sii-Tonitiwin Justice program in Naotkamegwanning.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at the Women’s Hosptial in Winnipeg, all of the Doctor’s, Nurse’s and cleaning staff at Lake of the Woods District Hosptial for all the care shown towards Angela.
Her wake service is on Sunday June 11, 2017 at 12:00 pm. Her traditional funeral service will be held at Rene & Angela's house in Whitefish Bay on June 12, 2017 with traditional burial service to follow.
