It is with great sadness and heavy hearts, that we announce the passing of Ashley Joelle Longclaws into the spirit world on August 16, 2021. Grover and bebe Ash, as she was known by her family was born in Portage La Prairie, MB.

She will be greatly missed by her loving partner and best friend Cassidy Copenace, Mommanon Isobel, Parents, Joe (Anita) Longclaws and Julie Bird (Darren), Brothers: Kelsey (Monique), Chad (Sherry), Montana (Kiona) and Handsome (Joseph Jr.), Sisters: Sara Elizabeth and Jaryn Tori. Uncles: Melvin Longclaws (Bernadette), Yankee (Maxine), Toowaas (Arvel) and Travis, Aunts: Louise Bombay, Janet Longclaws (Valvid), Stephanie, Tina, Charlotte (Archy) and Wendy, nephew Theoren Ovie, nieces Mackenzie, Kelsi, Sydney, Alex, Arianna (Miss Jones), Paris and Livia, Cousins Misty, Maverick, Tracy, Terena, Migisi, Edward, Veronica, SirLouie, Miigwenens, Jada, Xander, Drayston, Mats, Landon, Yarina, Cohen, Danien ,Tyrick, Avery, Coby, Ellie, Aubree, Torrey, Zayden, Bailey and Drew and many other relatives. She will also be missed by her best friends; Aislinn Peters, John Peters, Raya, Megan and Courtney. Ashley’s Best Fur friend, dog Rodger Bird.

Ashley is predeceased by Great grandparents Jerry & Clara Longclaws, Grandparents Eliza Longclaws & Clifford Chaske, Donald Blackhawk, Florence Bird, Stephen Bird, Bumpa Tommy White and cousin Jaden White.

Ashley’s passion was playing baseball. As a teenager, she joined her father, big sister and their family team. Ashley excelled in all areas of the field, earning the baseball nickname ‘SmAshley’. Ashley will be remembered as that little girl Joe used to bring to every ball tournament and hockey games and later, played on ball teams with. Ashley’s contagious laugh and humour always left a lasting impression on those she met.

Ashley’s Wake Service will be held at the Bai Bom Beh School in Naotkamegwanning First Nation on August 21, 2021 at 1 PM. A Traditional ceremony followed by burial will be officiated by an Elder from Niacatchewenin 80 on August 22, 2021 at 11 AM.
