Betty met and married the love of her life, Elmer, on June 1st, 1946. They then moved to Emo, Ontario and went on to have their 3 children, Dorothy, Rick and Tom. Betty and Elmer made a final move to Kenora in 1967, where they spent the rest of their days.
Betty valued hard work and held many careers throughout her life. Most notably, she worked at Birchwood Terrace (Wiigwas), where she spent the last few years of her life as well.
Betty enjoyed knitting items for her loved ones, as well as donating hats and mittens to charities every winter season. She would follow up her hard work by driving around town with her granddaughter to look at Christmas lights. She was an avid casino goer and never missed a game of bingo with her friends. Betty thoroughly enjoyed joining her son and daughter-in-law in motorhome trips to the casino (with or without her teeth, oops). She loved all animals and raved about dog visit days at Wiigwas. Betty would argue until her last day that Murdoch Mysteries was the best TV show created and would brag about visiting the set.
Betty spoke highly of her husband, children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren until her final days. She was always excited for a visit, unless of course, that visit landed during bingo hours. The thing Betty loved most was, without a doubt, her family. Betty was well-loved, and she will be so incredibly missed by
those who had the privilege of sharing her time.
Betty is survived by her children, Dorothy (Bill), Rick and Tom (Mandy). Her Grandchildren, Jason (Gail), Joyce, Kelly Ann (Ben), Damien, Janna, Russ (Shyy), Alisha (Tye), Craig (Caitlin) and Kara (Luke). Her Great-Grandchildren Mitchell, Julianna, Dante, Isabella, Lily, Michel, Max, Leo and Finn. As well as numerous other family members.
She is predeceased by her husband, Elmer, her parents Dorothy and Thomas Guyatt, her siblings, her grandson Bill Jr, as well as many other family members and friends.
“Loved with a love beyond all telling, missed with a grief beyond all tears”
The family of Betty would like to thank Wiigwas Senior and Elder Care Staff for their care and compassion during her final years.
In lieu of flowers/donations, tell your family you love them.
