Catherine was a lifelong resident of Naotkamegwanning First Nation, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at Wiigwas Elder and Senior Care with her family by her side.
She was predeceased by the father of her children David Hunter, common-law husband Dominic Paypompee, her parents Sarah Mandamin and Frank White, as well as her brothers Moses Mandamin, George Mandamin, sister Alice Mandamin, grandsons Gregory Hunter, Bradley Hunter, granddaughters Angel Fisher and Katie Fisher.
She is survived by her children Rose, Lawrence, Karen (William), Laura, Maybeline (Saeed), Sheri, Tommy, her grandchildren Jean, Delya, Penace, Shawun, Rolena, Jaiden, Amelia, Cheyenne, Sarah, A.J., Aaron, Ariel, Carrie, Percy, Shaylynn and her great grandchildren too numerous to mention. She is also survived by her sister Mary Lorraine Mandamin.
She was a commercial fisherman, who also enjoyed wild rice picking, long car rides and Pow-Wows across Canada and The United States, she was a Jingle dress dancer, she worked as a housekeeper for Red Indian Lodge, and also enjoyed evenings at home watching her favourite TV shows, she was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking for family and friends, she also enjoyed gathering throughout Canada with many Elder groups.
A wake service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 11:00am at Peshonigeb Cultural Centre, Whitefish Bay, Ontario. A traditional funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at 10:00am at Peshonigeb Cultural Centre with burial to follow.
