Desiree was born to parents Jeff Hynes and Shelly Mallet on September 10th, 1996 in Sudbury, ON. Those fortunate enough to have known Desiree will remember her contagious laugh and a beautiful smile. On December 19th Desiree entered heaven the way she lived her life; with unwavering strength and a sense of self that yielded to no one.
Desiree was born in Sudbury, Ontario on September 10th 1996 and from that day she brought nothing but happiness and sunshine into our lives and that of many others. She attended school both in Fort Frances and Kenora and throughout high school followed her love of animals, volunteering at animal shelters and vet clinics. Following Graduation from Beaver Brae Secondary, Desiree went to work at Kenora Forest Products where she made many close friends, Shauna, Sheri, Russ and Matt.
Desiree’s greatest joy was being a Mom to her daughter Hannah who will be our guiding light and a reminder of the love that Desiree brought into this world. At age nine, Desiree was diagnosed with type I diabetes and on Saturday, November 16th, Desiree suffered a diabetic emergency having had low blood sugar for a prolonged period in the night. As a result of episode she suffered seizures, and a catastrophic brain injury.
We want to thank the Kenora and Ornge paramedics as well as the staff of Thunder Bay Regional and The Lake of the Woods District Hospital for the wonderful care that was provided. On December 10th she was able to return to Kenora to pass peacefully surrounded by her family.
Desiree is survived by her daughter, Hannah Euler; Hannah’s father, Kyle Euler; mother, Shelly Mallet and partner Darcy; father Jeff Hynes and stepmother Colleen Neil; sister Daniella Hynes; nephew Zander Morisseau; stepsister Morgan Saelens; grandparents Lawrence and Imelda Hynes; aunt Amanda and uncle Cliff McCollam. Desiree will also be remembered fondly by the special people in her life including step-father Jason Anderson and family, the Euler family, and her close friends Nicole Scott, Jaime Collins and Cedar Scott-Ogier and many others.
In lieu of flowers it is the family’s wish to start a fund for Desiree’s 2 year-old daughter Hannah. If you would like to donate to this fund please follow the link to the gofundme page.
Future arrangements will be made for a Celebration of Life.
