Mrs. Eva Florence Zimmerman Olson

EVA FLORENCE OLSONNovember 13, 1929 - December 13, 2009With her family at her side, Eva Florence Olson passed away on December 13, 2009 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital, at the age of 80 years old.She is survived by her son Peter (Cheryl) Olson, granddaughters Stephanie (Edmonton) and Emma (Kenora). Eva is also survived by several sisters and brothers and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and many good and loyal friends who saw her through to the final days.Eva was predeceased by her husband Doug Olson in 1982 and her parents Afolf and Dorthea Zimmerman, numerous brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.Eva was born in Whitemouth, Manitoba on the 13th of November 1929. Here she received her education moving to Kenora in the late 1940's and starting work at the Kenricia Hotel. Here Eva found various forms of employment in the area, constantly working and moving on. She married Doug in 1959. Many countless trips for golfing and curling followed, allowing her and Doug to make many good and lifelong friends along the way. Eva started work with the former Kenora Police Services in 1979 and worked there right up to her becoming sick in 2009. Eva worked there for 30 years as a Matron guarding prisoners in the cell block area, and finally for the last few years in the Courthouse. Again she made many friends, on both sides of the bars. Eva worked right up to the age of 79 years.For the last six months Eva had called the Lake of the Wood District Hospital home. She was not happy to be there, but was very happy for the quality of the care and new friends made there. Eva would take an unhappy situation and make it better.Eva had a love for many things and was certainly interested in a wide variety of topics, anything from gardening, to cooking, to daily current events. She knew a lot about everything.A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre with Pastor Robert Wittmeier officiating.
