Evelyn Agnes Marie Nicolas

January 21, 1937- January 26, 2013

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Evelyn Agnes Marie Nicolas nee Hebert. Evelyn passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the age of 76 on Saturday, January 26th 2013 at Lake of the Woods District Hospital, in Kenora, Ontario.

Evelyn is predeceased by her parents Anna and George Hebert, husband Wilfred, sisters Rita and Collette Hebert, brother Robert Hebert, son Gary Nicolas, brother-in-laws Bernie, Germain, Harry, Chuck, and Malley as well as her beloved dog Max.

Evelyn is survived by her children Lynn (Rudy), Patti, Bobbie, sisters Laurette, Helen, Claudette, Patsy, Pitou, Jaqueline, Denise (Doug), Patrick (Celine), sister-in-law Rosanna Cousineau, grandchildren Richard, Sarah (Casey), Joey (Mary), Ashley, Nicolas (Crystal), Daniel and Gary, her great grandchildren Reed, Angela, Jayme, Brady, Jesse, Dalton, Damien, Kailee, Emma, Marcus, Annah, Autumn, Brooklyn and Joie, longtime friends Richard Gessner, David Emery and Jon Palmer.

Born in St. Charles in 1937 Evelyn was one of twelve children. Evelyn married her husband Wilfred and raised four children in Sudbury. In 1988 Evelyn and Wilfred finally settled in Kenora and their children and grandchildren were sure to follow.

She worked for the Ministry of Community and Social Services as an Income Maintenance Supervisor for many years. Evelyn won many awards and has had many accomplishments through her years which we were all very proud of. As a volunteer for many charities and organizations she was always very generous with her time. With a love for Lake of the Woods she enjoyed fishing and any moment she had on the water. Evelyn loved reading, playing cards and the casino lifestyle. Above all Evelyn enjoyed spending time with her family who she held with high regards.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lake of the Woods District Hospital for all their kindness they showed to our mother and family. A very special thank you to Dr. Joel Kroeker her charming friend and physician.

The family will receive relatives and friends for prayers Tuesday, January 29, 2013 between 7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre. Cremation and interment to follow at a later date.
