Gabe had a successful career as a Justice of the Peace, Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse worker, trapper, logger and fishing guide. He loved hockey and was always looking for adventure. Gabe was a kindhearted gentle soul who would go out of his way to help people in their time of need. He lived and breathed the traditional lifestyle of picking wild rice and blueberries. Since he was a great cook he would often prepare his family traditional meals of wild food, like moose, duck, geese, beaver, muskrat, rabbit and partridge.
God saw him getting tired, and a cure was not to be, so He put up his arms around him and whispered, "Come with Me". Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating; hard working hands put to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. Heaven gained an angel today. He passed on many teachings of hunting, fishing, trapping, and how to be kind to everyone we meet. We will always cherish our memories and always try to be as good a person as he was.
Special thanks to Alice Keesick for the tireless hours of homemaking. Your willingness to go above and beyond your duties were appreciated. We would like to say thank you to all the Thunder Bay regional Emergency and ICU staff and native liaison worker Leona. Leona supported the family immensely during the entire hospital stay. He had so many friends like Thomas Peters, Ton Williams I, Herb, but none other than Isaac Pahpasay and Rodney Bruce who would often visit Gabe and have a few laughs. In addition his trapping liaison and friend Ed Snowball from Thunder Bay.
