Jane and Barry first met at the Keewatin Memorial building at a teen dance in 1961. Their love blossomed from there and Jane was married to the love of her life on June 8, 1968. They started a family in 1972 with a son, Corey being born in March then in May of 1975 their daughter Amber was born. In the summer of 1975 they built their welcoming family home and began their life in Norman.
Mom was kind, generous and compassionate. She treasured her children and grandchildren, she loved them unconditionally and was proud of each one of them. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and loved spending endless time creating memories crafting, baking cookies and playing games. Mom loved everyone and everyone loved her, she had many lifelong friends, always making an effort to stay connected to those near and far. Mom shared a once in a lifetime friendship with her best friend Diane Boucher. Mom and Diane spent countless hours on the phone and went on many vacations together including two unforgettable family trips to Walt Disney World.
Mom was very creative and has left behind beautiful memories of her talents, including cross-stitching and crocheting items. When giving gifts her packaging and presentation were always done beautifully and with love and care. Her detail and pursuit of excellence was evident in everything she did. She was also known for her exquisite handwriting. Mom loved to cook and bake and she was the best at it. She lived to entertain and did it with finesse.
Her love for Mexico was fierce, it was her happy place. She loved to share her beautiful Casa with family and friends and always made sure everything was perfect for her guests. Her favourite flower was the bugambilia and while in Mexico she always had a bouquet of bugambilia’s on her dining room table. Mom had an open door policy where everyone was welcome at any time day or night. She loved to socialize and always enjoyed company popping over.
Mom/Nanny you will be missed greatly. We know your presence will always be with us. Thank you for being such an incredible Mother and Nanny. We love you, may you rest in peace.
“There are two dates on every tombstone. There’s a birth date and there is a date of death, and every human being is guaranteed those two dates. But that little dash that lies between those two numbers is what defines our lives. So make your dash count. Live --- really live.”
A celebration of Jane’s life will take place at a later date when the family looks forward to sharing more stories and laughs.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital foundation.
