Jean was born and lived her entire life in Kenora. She married her childhood sweetheart Ed and raised their seven children in Lakeside. She worked for 25 years as stenographer and “den mother” for the O.P.P.; Jean was fond of “her boys”. She was a member and past president of the Rebekah Lodge, an active member of Knox United Church, the Kenora Legion, and of the Lake of the Woods, Hearts of Knox and Wednesday Morning Museum quilting groups. She enjoyed curling, bridge clubs, knitting and baking for her family. In her retirement years she enjoyed traveling extensively and discovered her gift and passion for quilting. Summers were spent at her camp on Marchant’s Island on the Winnipeg River where many of her favourite family memories were made.
Her family extends their gratitude for the support of Dr. Bowerman, Dr. Fast, Jan Landsiedel, the nursing staff of 2nd Floor East as well as Jean’s close friends.
A Celebration of Jean’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 12th, 2011 at 2:00pm, at Knox United Church.
Jean supported many charities and local initiatives. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of one’s choosing would be greatly appreciated by her family.
