John George Hunter

John Hunter was born in Whitedog and lived most of his life there.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Barney & Anne, Harvey & Linda, Wendy & John, Gretchen & Rocky, Michael & Jennifer, Priscilla, Charlene & Floyd, Reuben & Alee. His brother & sisters, Joe Hunter, Louise Hunter, Harriet Bigblood. His nieces & nephews, Virginia, Derrick, George, Joey, Johnathan, Vincent, Eada, Guy, Madeline, Frank, Trudy and other relatives too numerous to mention.

His grandchildren, Shawna, Niigaani, Chloe, Storm, Deana, Dylana, Dorissa, Dylan, Kyle, Rochele, Rocki, Alyssa, Celeste, Brennan, Dallas, Bryce, Lauren, Wade, Freedom, Wynter, Jackson, Hayden. His great grandchildren, Zinnia, Kemper, Leonandre, Gwen, Kalo, Jrue, Renley, Ryland, Jerome, Justice, Kobi, Kaylie, Kyra, Taylee, Liam, Emmy, Reiden, Hayden, Madison, Dylan, Blake. One great-great grandson, Kai.

John was predeceased by his parents, George & Lucy Hunter, his brothers David and Norman Hunter and uncle Guy Hunter. His wife, Rachel Laura Bear. His children, Sharon Lucy McDonald, Russell Hunter. His grandchildren, Felicia Hunter, Felicia Mandamin, Sarah Bunting, Baby Bunting, his nieces and nephews, Doreen, Sarah, Kaylon, Tyrone, Kevin, Rodney, Lester, Alvin, Harold.

John's hobbies were carpentry, guiding, watching hockey, guitar playing, listening to Hank Williams Sr. & George Jones, telling stories, traveling to prayer meetings to pray and sing. He met and made many friends there.

He lost his faith in traditional ways due to traumatic experiences in residential school. He decided to follow the Christian way in his later years.

His fondest wish was to get well enough to return home in Whitedog and be near his adored grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 1:00pm at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre. Cremation to follow.
