Joyce passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday February 16th at Pinecrest Home in Kenora, Ontario.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Addie Bain, her children; Addie Jr. (Rosemary Sinclair) Kenora, Linda Barnard (Randy) Toronto, Sandra Stepanik (Terry) Pinawa, Manitoba, David (Judy Frost) Kenora.
Joyce was very proud of her grandchildren reminding us regularly that she helped to bring them all up.
Addie and Rosemary’s family; Tiffany and Alanna from Kenora and Travis from Toronto.
Linda and Randy’s family; Jason, Matthew, Clayton (predeceased on October 17, 2017) and Sarah from Toronto.
Sandra and Terry’s family; Andrew from Lorette, Daniel from Pinawa and Lisa from Fort McMurray.
David and Judy’s family; Kylie (predeceased June 15, 1982), Jamie and Ashley from Kenora.
Also points of pride were her great grandchildren; Emily, Hayden, Nolan, Callum, Julie, Colton, Seth, Jayden and James.
Joyce was predeceased by her parents Bessie May Allen and Peter Clark Stewart. They had 13 children, she being the youngest and the last of the siblings to pass. Ten sisters; Agnes Olson, Bea McKie, Jane Gedge, Bessie Flissness, Mary Martinsen, Ruth Hatch, Dorothy Smith, Barbara Stuart and Margaret Gander. Three brothers; Peter, Frank and John.
Joyce was a member of the United Church volunteering for many years teaching Sunday school when it was held at Evergreen School. A member of the Evergreen Community Club and President on occasions she also assisted her husband Addie (Sr.) for many years coaching hockey and volunteered at Pinecrest Home Tuck Shop.
Joyce loved camping at Gordon Lake with family and friends. Her fishing skills were amazing. She always boasted that her fish was the first and the biggest. Another boast was having the darkest tan. She was a real sun baby.
One of Joyce’s favourite hobbies was tending to her flower garden. She loved to split her plants and share them with others. Dad would plant a wonderful vegetable garden and mom would help harvest and preserve the crop. Her knitting was legendary with many items shared through her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Our thanks to the wonderful staff and administration at Pinecrest Home where Joyce had been a resident since 2017. She was loved by staff and residents alike and enjoyed her position as Vice President of the Residents’ Council.
A Memorial will be held in her honour at Pinecrest Home auditorium on Monday, February 24, 2020 at 11:00 am with Pastor Robert Wittmeier officiating.
Joyce (Mom and Nanny) will be missed and always loved.
