On December 23, 2025, we said goodbye to our mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and cherished friend. Her passing leaves a space that can never be filled, but her love and light will continue to guide us.
Mom faced her cancer diagnosis with incredible courage, choosing surgery in hopes of spending more time with us and her adored great-grandchildren. Her wish was to be home for Christmas, but instead, she joined Grandpa for the holidays in heaven—a reunion she longed for deeply. She passed peacefully, held by her daughter and supported by dear friend June, surrounded by love.
“ You may not have been able to spend the rest of your life with them, but they got to spend the rest of their life with you.” Thank you,mom for giving me that gift.
She had a gift for making every moment special. Birthdays came with your favorite cake, Christmas with your favorite treats (and always extra Nuts & Bolts for Brooke). She never missed a pedicure or a shopping trip, and she never left the house without her jewelry, lipstick, perfectly styled hair—and Smarties tucked in her purse for the girls. She was elegance and sass wrapped in one!
She believed in filling your days with experiences and moments that bring happiness. She was the heart of our family traditions, the sparkle in our celebrations, and the warmth in our everyday lives. We lovingly called her “Old Grandma”—a nickname she hated but eventually learned to love it- Ivy always said it with a giggle.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Gord (2017) and her son Sean (2013), both of whom she missed dearly. We find comfort knowing they are together again, watching over us.
The youngest of the remarkable Large sisters, Mom was adored by Auntie Ruth, Auntie Jean, and Auntie Donna, who helped raise her with love and care- they loved their baby sister. Her bond with her nephews was strong and treasured—she was deeply grateful for their affection and connection.
Gramma and Grampa spent years traveling together for gun shows and trap shoots, making friends and memories along the way. Their motorhome adventures with their faithful dog Dusty were filled with laughter and companionship. We imagine her now, reunited with Dusty and Grandpa, reclining in his favorite chair.
She leaves behind her loving children: daughter Kristin (Andrew) Bulmer and son Rob (Liz) Stewart; her grandchildren Brooke (Cody) Morrell-Bulmer and Colt (Sarah) Morrell; and her great-grandchildren Ivy Joy and Parker Gray, who brought her endless joy. Her nephews, who always made time to call, will miss her dearly.
Life can be heartbreakingly unfair. We had so many more memories to make, so many more plans. But we carry her with us—in our traditions, in how we love one another, and in how we live life to the fullest. She taught us that. Her legacy is stitched into the fabric of our lives.
So let’s not wait. Let’s make the call, take the trip, say “I love you.” That’s what she would want.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Lake of the Woods Gun Club.
There will be a private family gathering in the summer 2026.
