

Mabel Pykerman
1918 - 2012
Surrounded by her family, Mabel Pykerman, a resident of Pinecrest Home for the Aged, peacefully passed away September 25, 2012 at the age of 94 years.
She is survived by her children, David (Maureen) and grandchildren Meaghan and Tara, Donald (Leanda) and grandchildren Karen and Rayann, Debra (George ) and grandchildren Stephanie and Jennifer (Marijn). Her sister Doris Davison and family, sister in law Adeline Pykerman and family and daughter in law Bev Henricksson. As well as nephews and nieces in Saskatchewan and California and relatives in Sweden.
She was predeceased by her husband Arthur Pykerman and son Douglas Pykerman, brothers, Elmer Lindstom, Eric Bisgaard and her parents Walter and Maria Christina Bisgaard.
Mabel was born in Fife Lake Saskatchewan and moved to Kenora at the age of 17 to live with Aunty Ellen. She proudly served with the RCAF during the war in Guelph and Yarmouth. After the war she married Arthur and they owned and managed Pykermans Store till 1979 when they retired to their camp on the Winnipeg River and their home in Tucson Arizona. Mabel loved camp and the wild west of Tucson. She loved picking blueberries and baking pies. She had many bear stories related to those Blueberry picking times. Most of all she loved her grandchildren. They were her greatest love and her life. Mabel was a very special lady and will be remembered by all. she is now free of the hindrance of aging body and mind. she will be in the hearts of all she knew for her generosity, gentleness and wit.
Her family would love to thank Dr. Sawatzy, all the staff of Pinecrest and those who took their precious time to visit with her.
A Celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 pm at Pinecrest on Thursday, September 27, 2012. Immediate cremation with a private family internment at Lake of the Woods Cemetery that will take place next summer with her precious grandchildren present. In lieu of flowers in honour of Mabel a donation to ones charity of choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
