

Nathan Ernest "OJ' Fair
February 3, 1985 – November 4, 2017
Our beloved Nathan Ernest “OJ” Fair, “Miskogoneyaash” (Red Thunderbird Flying), of Shoal Lake No. 40, died on Saturday, November 4, 2017.
Nathan is survived by his parents Karen and Tim Cowley, and father Earl (Shona) Wapioke. He leaves behind his children Tameeka Paypom, Creedence “Breezy” Paypom-Fair, Xeria Kelly and step-children Jordanson, Carter, Jacoby, and Charlie Henry. Nathan was a beloved brother to Rebecca Fair (Wesley Ostamus), Ryan Morrison (Mercedez Paypompee), and Kirk, Kristen and Earl Jr. Wapioke. He is also survived by his grandparents Gloria Hyde, Mary Alice Smith, Elsie Wapioke, and Llyod Briggs. He was an uncle to his many nieces and nephews: Tristan, Ramus, and Dorian Fair; Wesley Jr, Brayden, Draven, Tara Snow, and Liam Ostamus; Hunter and Hudson Miles, Logan Kanakakeesic, and Genesis Morrison. Nathan was loved by his aunts and uncles, Ava (Mike) McKay; Carla (John) Mandamin; Beverly Williamson; Jason (Vanessa Skead) Williamson; David (Nika Tom) Crow; Lee Ann (Scott) Hyde; Rachel Hyde; Danielle (Adam Blanchard) Morrison; and Lorne (Lisa), John, Eleanor, and Lorraine Wapioke. Nathan was adored by his cousins Lori, Karlina, Joshua (Ashlee), and Bryce Tom; Josephine, Leila, Desirae, Kisha, and Leroy Jr Paypompee; Marcus and Ketura McArthur; Tianna, Jenna (Yolanda), Kelcie Williamson, Zoey Tawiyaka, and Brittany and Jessica Skead; Karlee & Jakson Crow-Green; and Evie Morrison; along with all of their children. Dinawaa makinatook, Nathan had many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends dear to him.
Nathan spent most of his life in Treaty 3 territory in Whitefish Bay, Fort Frances, and Kenora, and more recently in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Nathan is remembered for his infectious laugh and sense of humour, with which he touched and enriched many lives. He was an avid gamer, a talented breakdancer, rapper, and comedian.
A Traditional Wake will be held at Knox United Church (116 Fifth Avenue South, Kenora, Ontario) on Tuesday, November 7th, 2017 starting at 4:00 PM. A traditional service and burial will follow in the same location on Wednesday, November 6th, 2017 starting at 10:00 AM, with Elder Ken Kakeeway Sr. leading the ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nathan’s honour to Anamiewigummig Fellowship Centre (208 Water Street, Kenora, Ontario).
