July 21, 1936 - January 26, 2017
After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Rita Leclerc passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospice in Thunder Bay, Ontario on January 26, 2017.
Rita was born on July 21, 1936 in Pine Falls, Manitoba to Therese and Remi Vincent. She grew up in the St. George area where she met the love of her life, Paul. They were married on October 23, 1954 and shared 51 years of marriage. In 1955, mom and dad moved to Ontario where they finally chose to settle in Keewatin and raise their family.
Rita worked at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital for over 20 years in the physio department. In 1991, she decided to permanently retire from the hospital and spend time at home with dad. She was a long time member of the Catholic Women's League for the St. Louis Parish until recent years. Being with family was important to mom. She loved her children and grandchildren and looked forward to celebrating all special occasions with them. Mom had many talents, her family always got to have the pleasure of taking home her handmade crocheted blankets and sweaters, among many other projects that she took on.
In 2008, mom made the big decision to move to Thunder Bay and live there with her son, Roger. They had many great adventures together, including salmon fishing on Lake Superior, camping and travelling west to visit family. She loved the outdoors and gardening was something she was good at, one would enjoy many benefits of her fresh vegetables on the dinner table.
Rita's memory will be cherished by her loving children Roger and Rose (Gerald); four grandchildren Justin (Erin), Jeff (Linda), Melissa (Chad), Amanda (Jon); five great grandchildren, Josh, Michael, KaIla, Jacey and Luka. She will also be missed by five sisters Lea, Rolande, Frida, Claire and Lucy; two brothers Orile and Hubert: sister-in-law Yvette.
She was predeceased by husband Paul in 2005; parents Therese and Remi Vincent; granddaughter Chantelle; two sisters Diane and Adeline; brother Florent.
Immediate cremation has taken place. A memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Louis Roman Catholic Church.
