(November 16, 1948 – September 16, 2025)
It is with great love (and a little disbelief) that we announce the passing of Robert “Bobby” Harry Moore of Kenora, Ontario, on September 16, 2025, at the age of 76. True to form, he left us in his own way and on his own time — stubborn to the end, just as we all knew and loved him.
Born on November 16, 1948, in Kenora, Ontario, Bobby spent his life perfecting the art of telling the world’s longest stories and making sure everyone around him felt welcome. He never met a stranger, only future friends who hadn’t yet heard one of his famous jokes.
A proud Métis man, Bobby shared not only his own stories but also the stories of his ancestors, keeping alive the traditions, humour, and wisdom passed down through generations.
Bobby was predeceased by his father Leonard Moore (Nellie), his mother Mildred Moore (Joe), his brother-in-law Dave Parmeter, his best buds Gary, Steve, Dave C, Henry, and Charlie Jack, and his best companion, his loyal dog Lady. No doubt, they’re all together again, sharing stories, laughs, and quiet company.
He leaves behind his children, Lee-Anne Moore (Rod) and Laura Moore-Frenette; grandchildren, Amanda, Wyatt, Chasitiy (Donivan), Mitchell, and Isabelle (Izzy); and seven great-grandchildren: Scarlett, Kyler, Kayleb, Kamdyn, Quinnie, Bella, and Paolo — all of whom will deeply miss their Papa Bob.
Bobby also leaves behind his siblings, Dwight Moore, Jo-Ann Berard, and Rhonda Campbell (Terry); and his very special nieces and nephew: Jennifer, Cypris, Shayne, and Payton. Each of them carries a piece of his humour, warmth, and love for family.
Bobby loved his career at Morning Star Detox Centre up until his retirement, and was happiest when he was out fishing, telling stories over a cold one, or enjoying a little “Mary-Jane” with his best buds. He shared a once-in-a-lifetime friendship with his best friend, Ronnie Lusk — the two were inseparable, always having a hoot together, and anyone who saw them knew they were brothers in spirit. He also held dear his good friend Dave Kitt and his wife Crystal, whose friendship and support meant so much to him over the years.
He firmly believed dessert should always be eaten first, and his stories, quick wit, and one-liners will be remembered (and retold) for generations.
A private family interment will take place at Lake of the Woods Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, let’s gather to celebrate Bobby Moore, raise a glass, tell a tall tale, and laugh loudly in his honour. The date and place of his Celebration of Life will be announced at a later time.
