

Dotem Simon David Kent Jr. (Nilwan-Nimkee-Biniishe) of the Sturgeon Clan was born March 18th, 1971. Simon passed away peacefully at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital on February 6th, 2025 after family said their farewells.
Simon has been called home to the spirit world, where he will be reunited with his parents Simon Kent Sr. (father) and Rose Bombay- Smith (mother), as well as other family members in the spirit world.
He was survived by his loving children, Melanie (Darcy), Ryan (Lara), Hannah, Rozhonda, Ashley (Randy), Justine, Haylee (Jeffrey), Samurai, Samara & Maurisa. Brothers: Walter (Melissa), Greg, Vernon (Farrah) Sisters: Nadine (Colin), Verna (Larry). His beloved grandchildren he cherished Rayden, Lilianna, Logan, Ellayna, Makari, North, Layla, Laiyah, Emily, and Mason. His nephews: Walter Jr, Christian, Hayes and Dakota, his nieces Shauna (Jeff), Hilarie (Brad), Marleen, Kristina (Anthony), Shayna, Sylvia, and Shayleen. His cousins: Alexis Chief-Kent (Danny) Brianne Kent, Brenna Kent, April Kent (Harvey), Rachel Hunter, Rosemary Langan as well as numerous relatives to mention.
Simon is originally from Whitedog (Wabaseemoong), Ontario but spent most of his life living in Kenora, Ontario. He loved gaming out on his Nintendo switch playing Fortnite, watching TikTok's, texting with his children and other family. He loved his coffees from Tim Hortons or McDonald's. Simon enjoyed listening to music, he was a huge KISS fan, his favourite band member is Gene Simmons, he also enjoyed other bands like EZO, AC/DC etc. Simon loved spending time with his children going sliding, swimming, and traveling. Simon loved to visit with friends and family. He was known for his pranks and jokes, as he enjoyed making people laugh.
His family would like to say chi miigwetch to the nurses and doctors at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital and the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital as they made sure Simon was as comfortable as possible, Wabaseemoong, Wabaseemoong Chief & Council and Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre.
Pallbearers will be, Walter Kent (Brother), Vernon Kent (Brother), Greg Kent (Brother), Christian Scott (Nephew), Grant McDonald (Friend), Ryan Ochapowace (Son).
A traditional wake service will be held on February 17th, 2025, at 9:30 am at the Perch Bay Resort in Keewatin. A traditional funeral service will be held on February 18th, 2025, at 10:00 am at the Perch Bay Resort in Keewatin, followed by a burial at Lake of the Woods Cemetery.
