1952-2008
Svea passed away the evening of Sunday October 19th, 2008 at LOWDH, with her family by her side.
She was predeceased by her parents Freda and Herb Bergman, Mother and Father-in-law Jean and Louis Parth, and brother-in law Ronald Weare.
She is survived by Lawrence Joseph Parth her loving husband of 38 years, Her daughters Candace Nadine Van Dam (Mike), Carla-Marie Parth, and Melissa 'Lisa' Cherise Imeson (Tyler), Her precious granddaughters Mercedes and Brooke Van Dam, Her sister Lynne Korella (Karl), Her sister Mavis Weare, Her brother Frank Bergman (Annette), Her nieces Michelle Lange, Kim Mahon, and Valerie Grant, Her nephews Tim Bergman, and Mark Weare, and 'Zoey', her Japanese Chin.
Svea was born in Kenora on January 22, 1952 and was raised in Lakeside. She met Lawrence while still in high school and they fell in love immediately. They wed within the year, the beginning of a lifelong marriage. She went on to have three daughters, creating a family of her very own. Her children were her pride and joy. In 1979 they took residence on Storm Bay Road. Lawrence built the family home and it would provide her with great happiness for many years to come.
She worked for a number of local employers (Landry's, Richardson Securities, the Health Unit) prior to establishing her career as an Information Technology Specialist for Services Canada where she was employed until her passing, a duration of twenty years. She loved helping people and enjoyed working with all the staff of the Kenora, Dryden and Fort Frances Offices as well as the Ontario Regional Technology Team. The relationships she developed over the years meant a lot to her.
She had a love of flowers…eager to pick what she and her husband would plant each year. She was very talented with crafts and had several hobbies including; knitting, crochet, needlepoint, cross stitch, and machine embroidery, talents which she loved to share with others, whether her skills or creations. A project was always in the works and she would be making something for somebody on a daily basis. She enjoyed cooking and baking for family get-togethers, special occasions, and holidays. She had a love of history, enjoyed reading, and bridge. She loved the first leaves of spring and never failed to mention them, summer brought boat rides and fish home for supper, fall meant Thanksgiving and that Christmas was around the corner, each year taking great pride in preparing her favourite holiday meal, a most special time for everyone.
Her greatest love of all was her family. There was nothing she wouldn't do for them and nothing more important to her than the happiness of her beloved husband and three daughters. Her husband forever her 'everything'.
We would like to thank all of her co-workers of the HRDC, family friends Wicks', Ried's, Wilson's, Triskle's, and Burke's for their many years of friendship, and for everyone's efforts and support throughout her countless treatments. Thank you to all aforementioned friends and family and to all of those too many to mention for your consistent love, support, friendship, kindness, and generosity of time and spirit.
A most special thank you to Kathy Paquette for the gift of 'Zoey', a most special companion that was always by her side.
A special Thank You to all of the staff at the LOWDH, nurses Carolyn, Tina, Kim, and Holly of the Chemo Unit, Dr. Dueck of Thunder Bay, Dr. Beveridge, Dr. Ramchander, Dr. Harland, and all other medical staff we may have not mentioned.

Loving Mom, Loving Wife, Loving Friend…
Deeply adored, incredibly missed, forever cherished…
And Always in our hearts…
LOVE is a quilt - a quilt is love…
Both love and a quilt should be.
Soft enough to comfort you,
Bright enough to cheer you,
Generous enough to enfold you,
Light enough to let you move freely,
Strong enough to withstand adversity,
Durable enough to last a lifetime,
And given gladly, from the heart.
