November 11, 1940 – April 12, 2026
It is with much sadness that the family of Victoria Chevrefils, (nee Edwards), announces her passing on April 12th, 2026 at the age of 85, at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora, Ontario. She was surrounded by her loving family when she passed.
Victoria will be remembered and deeply missed by her husband of 57 years, Paul, children, Nicholas (Charlene), Leanda (Mort), grandchildren Karen McDonald (Paul), Rayann Pykerman (Bonnie), Tyler (Kaelina), great-grandchildren Finley and Duncan; here sister Janice Taylor (Doug), brother Jack (Theresa) and sister-in-law Jan Marie.
Victoria was predeceased by her parents Eugenia and Bertram Edwards and her brother Rick.
Victoria was born and raised in Kenora, spending most of her life in the place she loved. She couldn’t walk down the street without stopping to chat with every second person! In her later years her main interests were enjoying the beautiful home that Paul built for her, her amazing flower gardens, and her grandchildren. She and Paul enjoyed travelling the world, and they had many memorable adventures.
She had a varied career, with some highlights being a telephone operator (where she met Paul who worked for the phone company), owning her Esthetician Business (Victoria’s) and many years working for and volunteering with the Kenora Association for Community Living. Outside of that, she considered her main career being the world’s greatest Nanny.
Victoria had a wonderful sense of humour and would usually leave her audience in stitches with hilarious (and usually racy) anecdotes. On her final day, she was regaling the entire staff overnight in a wheelchair at the nursing station. She had an affinity for red wine and losing a bit of money at the casino! She scratched a few lottery tickets the day she passed (always the optimist)!
She was a big personality, full of life and love. She will be deeply missed and remembered by everyone who knew her.
Special thanks to the amazing nursing staff and doctors from the third floor of the L.O.W District Hospital for their kind care and attention.
In lieu of flowers, Mom requested donations be made to the Kenora Cat Shelter.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
