Janice M. Anderson, 82, of Melbeta, died at the Kimball County Manor on February 1, 2024. Cremation has been held and memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at the Cornerstone Community Church in Kimball with Pastor Alan Foutz officiating. Friends may visit www.cantrellfh.com to view Janice’s tribute wall and share condolences and stories with the family. Janice had a long 15 year battle with Alzheimer’s & Dementia, in lieu of flowers the family has designated Friends of Alzheimer’s & Dementia, a nonprofit under the Oregon Trail Community Foundation in Scottsbluff as the memorial. The services for Janice have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.
Janice Marie Anderson was born on January 24, 1942, the daughter of John and Clara Ann (Sorensen) Nelson. She was a long time Kimball County resident and graduated from the Kimball County High School in 1961. She met Owen Anderson, the love of her life at the Lost Park dance hall in Banner County, they were married on September 8, 1961 in Bushnell, Nebraska. They lived on the family farm for 2 years before moving to Golden, Colorado. They moved back to Kimball and lived here for 2 years before moving to Melbeta in 1971, where she lived until moving to the Kimball County Manor in 2017. Janice enjoyed cooking, baking, and sewing and working in her yard, she had the best looking yard in Melbeta. She also loved camping with family and friends, her favorite place to camp was French Creek near Centennial, Wyoming. Janice was a beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandma and great great grandma, she had a heart of gold and would help anybody that needed it.
Survivors include her husband Owen Anderson of Melbeta, NE; sons Jeff (Shellon) Anderson of Kimball, NE., and their children DaNesa (Ty) Fleck and son Grayson of North Platte, NE., and Kyle (Alisa) Anderson and their children Saigh (son Anthony Edwards), Kasten, and Kamden of Kimball, NE., Richard (Michelle) Anderson of Gering and son Jon (Danielle) Anderson of Gering, NE., David (Kimberli) Anderson of Gering, NE and son Colin Anderson of Kimball, NE; 1 great great grandson and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Clara Ann Nelson, sister Joanne Townsend and niece Becky Townsend.
