

Leonard J. Michal, 82, of Kimball, died at his home in Kimball on Wednesday, May 4, 2016. Cremation has been held and there will be no services. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Friends may visit www.cantrellfh.com to view Leonard’s Tribute Wall and leave condolences and messages of sympathy for the family. Memorial can be given in Leonard’s name to Sierra Club, 85 Second Street, San Francisco, CA 94105. The services for Leonard have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.
Leonard Jacob Michal, Jr. was born in Bayard, Nebraska on February 1, 1934, the son of Leonard, Sr. and Leah (Kaufman) Michal. He was raised and attended school in the area and graduated from the Scottsbluff High School in 1952. He worked for Carl Norton Landscaping before enlisting in the US Army in September of 1955. Leonard honorably served his country during the Korean War. He was discharged in September of 1957. He continued his work as a landscaper in California and worked for many of the celebrities at the time. He retired and moved to Scottsbluff and then moved to Kimball in 1996 and lived there until the time of his death. Leonard enjoyed Bicycles and made many over the road trips to towns surrounding Scottsbluff. He also liked reading and loved to study, he was a very intelligent person.
Survivors include his brother-in-law Harold Keller of Scottsbluff, NE; nephew Mike (Debbie) Keller of Scottsbluff, NE; niece Rene (Rodney E.) Davis of Minatare, NE; 5 great nieces and nephews and 6 great great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Alice Keller.
