Doris Ann Wolf

Doris Ann “Dorie” Wolf, age 83, of Kingsley passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, June 1, 2015 at Munson Medical Center. She was born November 18, 1931 in Kingsley to George Joseph and Anna M. (Bembeneck) Schichtel. Dorie was Valedictorian of her graduating class from St. Mary’s of Hannah Catholic School in 1949. That same year she also won first place in the Cherry Pie Bake Off at the National Cherry Festival.

Dorie married Stanley Wolf on December 1, 1951 at St. Mary’s of Hannah Catholic Church. Together they raised 4 children.

Dorie worked as a nurse at the Traverse City State Hospital from 1951 until its closing in 1989. She also worked as a file clerk for Dr. Hall.

Dorie was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s of Hannah Catholic Church where she participated in the Altar Society and helped out with many funeral luncheons. She would always provide pies.

Dorie was an avid bird watcher and also enjoyed shopping with her friends and family. She was a caring and compassionate mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She always had the right words for the right situation, and no one left her home hungry! If you walked through her door, she was quick to fix you a plate to eat. Everyone was welcome in her home for as long as they wanted to stay.

Dorie will be greatly missed by her children: Joseph Wolf (Eileen Cordoba) of Buckley, David (Joni) Wolf, Janice (Ray) LeVasseur, and Kathy (Kris) Weber all of Kingsley; seven grandchildren: Justin (Jeny) Wolf, Holli (Shawn) Jarskey, Joshua (Stephanie) Wolf, Rene' LeVasseur (Jeff Nickerson), Ashley (Chuck) Wolstein, Adam Weber, and Stephen Cordoba; eight great- grandchildren: Carolyn and Nolan Wolf, Jace Jarskey, Brody and Baya Wolf, Kylie, Colton, and Brooklyn LeVasseur-Nickerson; extended family member Charmaine Michels, plus many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Dorie was preceded in death by her husband Stanley in 2013, grandson Jeremy Wolf, daughter-in-law Carolyn Wolf; and siblings Bernard, Joseph, Reynold, Mary, Donald, and Mildred.

A visitation will be held Friday, June 5, 2015 from 4-8 P.M. at the Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley with a vigil service at 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s of Hannah Catholic Church. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s of Hannah Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Dorie’s name may be directed to the St. Mary's of Hannah School (window fund) or the American Cancer Society.
