

Peggy Ann Gomez, age 68, of Kingsley, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at her home with her family at her side. She was born November 10, 1942 in Cooksville, TN to Edward and Ancie (Ealey) Shoemake. She graduated from Pershing High school in Detroit in 1961. On February 19, 1966 Peggy married Phillip Gomez. Together they raised 3 children.
Peggy and her husband owned and operated the Dairy Dee and barber shop in Kingsley. She enjoyed crocheting, Bingo, the Casino, puzzle books, and her porcelain dolls. The most important thing in her life was her family. She loved spending time with them and taking care of them.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, Phillip; children: Phillip (Andrea) Gomez, Paul (Michelle) Gomez, and Dawn Harner, all of Kingsley; 10 grandchildren: P.J., Justin, SanTanna, Alyssa, Kaitlin, Kelsey, Alex, Craigie, Corey, and Olivia; 1 great granddaughter: Ava; 3 siblings: Charles Shoemake, Toni Casey, and Mickey Shoemake, and many other family and friends.
Besides her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her brother Edward “Bo” Shoemake.
A visitation will be held today, Friday, August 26, 2011 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley. A funeral will be held Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 11am at the Kingsley Baptist Church. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery.
