

Raymond L. Keffer 94, of Kingsley died on Sunday March 20, 2011 at Munson Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Kingsley on March 21, 1917, the son of Allan and LaVerne S. (Bolton) Keffer. Ray married Irene Nash on March 19, 1955 in Copemish. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in WWII; where he played in the Army band. He was a life member of both the VFW and The American Legion. Ray said his accomplishments included farming, assessing, raising Christmas trees, building homes, and playing for dances. He served on the Grand Traverse County Board of Commissioners, he was the Supervisor for Fife Lake Township, and was an Assessor / appraiser for many local townships. Ray is survived by his daughter Eileen Dobson of Kingsley, four grandchildren; Patti (Chuck) Lark of Kingsley, Alan (Luann) Clark of Traverse City, Howard “Joey” (Pat) Clark of Buckley, and Raymond (Bonnie) Clark of Kingsley. (8) great-grandchildren, and (8) great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Irene Keffer, son James Pahl, and (7) siblings. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Covell Funeral Home, Kingsley. Funeral Services will be held on Friday March 25, 2011 at 11am from the Funeral Home with additional visitation one hour prior. The Rev. Tom Randall will officiate. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, in the spring. Memorials may be given in Ray’s name to the Fife Lake American Legion or Fife Lake American legion Auxiliary. The family would like to thank the Dr’s and nurses of Munson Medical Center B-2 South , and especially Dr. Robert Hall and Amy Eyman for the wonderful care given to Ray. Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home, Kingsley.
