

Billy L. Dingus, Sr., 80, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2014, at the Holston Valley Medical Center. Mr. Dingus was born on November 12, 1934 in Dante, Virginia the son of the late John B. Dingus and Talma Elam Dingus. He retired from Lowes and was a member of the Midfield Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Dingus was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was a member of the Boonetown/Lake VFW Post #4933. During his time of service he received the following decoration, medal and citation: Good Conduct Medal. He was preceded in death by one brother, Raiford Dingus; and one sister, Arvena Hurd.
Survivors include his two daughters, Cherry Kelso and husband Steve and Patricia Ketron and husband Mike; one son, Billy L. Dingus, Jr.; four grandchildren, Eric Spradlin, Nathan Kelso, Marissa Spradlin and Chris Kelso and wife Jessica; eight great grandchildren, Alexis Spradlin, Alyssa Spradlin, Blake Spradlin, Elizabeth Kelso, McKenzie Kelso, Jordan Kelso, Evie Kelso and Axl Kelso; two brothers, Johnny Mack Dingus and George B. Dingus and wife Shelby; two nephews, Randy Dingus and Ron Dingus; and one niece, Linda Dingus. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 28, 2014 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral Services for Mr. Billy L. Dingus, Sr. will be held Sunday, December 28, 2014 at 6:00pm in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jesse Hartgrove officiating. A private Entombment will be held in Mausoleum II of East Lawn Memorial Park with military honors to be rendered by the American Legion Hammond Post #3 and Gate City Post #265. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Midfield Freewill Baptist Church, 1801 Granby Road, Kingsport, TN 37665 or to the Colonial Heights United Methodist Church, Johns Island Mission Fund, PO Box 6027, Kingsport, TN 37663.
