Carolyn grew up in Sullivan County. She received her undergraduate and Master’s degree from East Tennessee State University, and retired from teaching middle school after more than 30 years. She is loved and remembered by many of her students.
She was a dedicated member of the First Broad Street United Methodist Church. Carolyn loved her church and was involved in many ways. Outside of church, she was happiest helping and spending time with her friends and family. She was a member of several bridge clubs, and played regularly.
Carolyn also had a very close relationship with her daughter and son-n-law, and traveled with them frequently.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur E. McCroskey and Carrie Holt McCroskey; her sisters Mabel Cook and Margaret Blackburn; her brothers Malcolm “Red” McCroskey, Charles “Charlie” McCroskey, Jesse “Jack” McCroskey, and several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her daughter Amy Williams; Son-in-law Mark Williams, and her sister Louise Deatherage, as well as four generations of nieces and nephews. She was blessed to be called “Gigi” (Grandmother) by three little ones she loved very much Nieve, Calum, and Parker.
Carolyn loved flowers, but she is not here to enjoy them with us. If you intended on sending flowers, she would love it if you sent them to someone you know and love, who might need a smile. If your preference is to make a donation in her name, we request that they be sent to either:

A memorial service for Carolyn will be held on Tuesday June 26, 2018 at 2:00pm at First Broad Street United Methodist Church, in the chapel, with Rev. Jack Weikle officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Parlor.
