My sympathy goes out to Mt. Craft's family. Mr. Craft was my 7th grade teacher at John Sevier. He was funny and had a great personality along with being a great teacher. He made learning fun. I know he will be truely missed.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Cecil.  From a young age I (Jeannie) remember Cecil always finding a way to witness in some capacity to my Dad about Christ, which meant so much to me; I loved that, and it was so special!!  He was such a blessing in all his capacities that touched our life: school teacher, bible teacher, elder & friend; there are no such things as "coincidences" in God's plan.  Just seeing Cecil’s pictures in the memorial brings feelings of warmth & respect. Every thought that we will have of Cecil will bring smiles to our faces; his wonderful laughter, sweet smiles, winks & enveloping handshakes were so precious! He lit up ever room he entered.  He cared for his family, and church family, in the most sincere ways; a true example of love that all Christians are to express.  He was such a treasured friend to our special friend, Laura Wyatt, visiting her faithfully as none other until her death in 2006.

We will keep the whole family in our thoughts and prayers. Please find comfort in Heaven above, where Cecil is now walking beside his Savior, Jesus Christ, experiencing that wonderful place, and meeting Joyce, as well as other loved ones! Here is a precious poem from our family to yours entitled...

Mr. Craft was on of my favorite teachers at John Sevier Jr. High. (1973)

What a wonderful man. I have such fond memories of Mr. Craft as a teacher and friend. He took a special interest in all of us, treating us with respect and fairness. He encouraged me to work hard and challenge myself not only in his class, but in all areas of my life. My father was also one of Mr. Craft's students and was so happy when three of his own children were able to experience his classroom (John Sevier) as well. Dad has spoken so highly of the Craft family from his years in Lynn Garden all the way to this day. We have shared memories of a very wonderful man and we will miss him. But his legacy will most certainly endure. God Bless each of you and comfort you in your loss.

I just want to offer my deepest sympathy in the loss of your father.  I am one of the students who was able to share the pleasure of not only having him for a teacher, but also having him teach my son.

Mr Craft was one of my most memorable teachers at John Sevier in the 70's, and I was thrilled to run into him working at the Garden Basket years later. His sense of humor made school and life in general more fun for everyone around him. He truly made an impact on this town and will be remembered fondly by many. My condolences to his entire family.

My family has known Cecil since he began dating Joyce the young lady two doors down from my family. He visited my parents frequently and after Mom lived in an assisted living, we knew Cecil would visit ever week or so. I last saw Cecil in January when he and Mom were in the hospital. Sadly, we lost both of them on the same day.

Mr. Craft was one of my favorite teachers.  I had him for two classes when I attended John Sevier (it was a junior high then).  He was able to capture our attention and keep it because he had that unique way of balancing the educating with a good sense of humor.  I am sorry to hear of his passing.  My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.  He will definitely be missed.

I too was a student of Mr. Craft. He was a delightful person and a wonderful teacher who understood that teaching was more than just books and words. Certainly his family deserves to be proud of the legacy this fine man leaves behind. God bless you during this difficult time.

Mr.Craft will be dearly missed. I had Mr. Craft as my teacher in 6th grade back in 1983 at John Sevier. I cherished how he took care of his daughter Karen. I will always remember his lovely smile. My prayers are with you and your family.

To the Craft Family:  So sorry to hear of Mr. Craft's passing.  He was one of the first teachers at John Sevier to offer a welcoming hand to the African-American students from the Douglass School, whose school had just integrated.  His care and attention immediately caught the eye of one scared 12-year-old, afraid of this new, unfamiliar situation.  That student was me.  I found that the uncertainties of new, strained relationships was eased by the compassion he showed for me and my fellow former Douglass classmates.  In thinking back, I realized that he used Social Studies to bridge the cultural gap between black and white students in his classroom and I'll never forget that.  An excellent, gifted, talented teacher.  Somewhere in Heaven, he's teaching a Social Studies class in cultural diversity, and I hope to be back on the front row someday.

I was so sorry to hear of Mr. Crafts passing.  He was indeed a fine man with a loving heart and true compassion for others.  I had the honor of having him for a teacher at John Sevier and will treasure that memory.  My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. There are very few teachers you actually enjoy being around as a middle schooler, but I can tell you my memories of Mr. Craft are ones of laughter, great stories and wonderful interaction with his students.

Mr Craft was my teacher in the 7th grade in 87-88 at John Sevier Middle School. He was one of my favorite teachers. He had a wonderful personality and was so funny. I am so sorry to hear that he has passed. Our prayers are with his family. He was a wonderful man.

My sincere condolences on Cecil's passing. Cecil was a co-hort at Sevier for 18 years. He had a great sense of humor, and I am sure he is continuing to entertain those in his presence in his new life. He was a kind person with a genuine concern for kids. Craft family. So sorry to read of Cecils passing. I grew up with Cecil and Herschel in Lynn Garden during the 40a and 50s. We went to high school together at the old Sullivan High in Sullivan Gardens. I saw and talked to Herschel at the 50th reunion in 2000. Kind of lost contact with most all of our "generation" over the years. Been living in Ga for the last 40 some years. But I do wish to extend my condolences to the family.
