Clarence McTeer “Mack” Dunford, age 86 of Gray, entered into the arms of Jesus on September 26, 2018. Mack was born on April 11, 1932 in Wythe County, VA to Curtis Dunford and Thelma Allison Dunford. On October 23, 1954, Mack married his most cherished friend and love of his life, Bernice Caudle, and after 63 years of a beautiful life together and raising a family, she survives.
Mack was family man. He enjoyed golfing, camping, and traveling. Mack was devoted to his country and he bravely served his country during the Korean War as a combat paratrooper. Mack was a true American, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a friend who could always be counted on.
Mack was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Dunford; and sister, Frances Jordan. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Bernice Dunford; daughters, Susan Leach and husband Lee, Joni Trompak and husband Steve, and Leslie Briggs and husband Bob; daughter-in-law, Kent Dunford; grandchildren, Laura Ward and husband Taylor, Matthew Dunford, Patrick Dunford and wife Rebekah, Christy Trompak, Carrie Rowland, Ben Rowland, Bobby Briggs, Addie Briggs, Will Briggs, and Brandon Bledsoe; great grandchildren, Emily Ward, Audrey Ward, and Landon Dunford; and numerous loving friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 1, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home. A celebration of Mack’s life will be held at 7:00 pm immediately following the visitation with Pastor Dennis Flaugher officiating. Interment services will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 11:00 am at East Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of Peace II. Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Dunford, Patrick Dunford, Brandon Bledsoe, Ben Rowland, Lee Leach, and Taylor Ward.
