Harrison Shaffer of Blountville went to be with the Lord at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, December 29, 2009 with her loving family by her side.Doris was born February 25, 1947 in Kingsport to the late Horace Harrison and Jane McNeil Harrison. She had been a resident of Kingsport all her life. She was employed with The Kingsport Press. In addition to here parents she is preceded in death by grandsons Brandy and Joshua Cavin and father-in-law, Reverend Carson Shaffer.Surviving is her husband who was the love of her life for 33 years, Bobby E. Shaffer.Daughters, Tammy Smith, Lorie Crigger, Becky Dykes, Tonya Bennett and Bobbi Soper. Sons, Tony Shaffer and Ricky Hurst. Sixteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, brothers; Jay Harrison, Bob Harrison, Darrell Harrison, Larry Harrison and Jim Harrison. Sisters; Mamie Kilgore, Hazel Wilder, Edith Mays, Frankie Bishop, Louise Thompson, and Jean Carter.Several nieces and nephews and close family friend Paul Shaffer and mother-in-law, Lizzie Jane Shaffer.Visitation will be Thursday, December 31, 2009 from 6-8 PM at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel at 8:00 pm with Pastor Dewey Shaffer and Pastor Charles Bogle officiating. Graveside services will be conducted Friday, January 1, 2010 at 11:00 am in East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Ricky and Tony Shaffer, Tom Crigger, Darren Brummitt, James Beauchamp and Robert Parks.
