

Doyle Zachary Dykes, age 83, of Church Hill, TN, peacefully departed this world to be with God on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Holston Valley Medical Center, surrounded by his cherished family and his devoted wife of 33 years. Born on July 8, 1943, he was the beloved son of the late Robert Lee and Georgia Elizabeth Elkins Dykes. A proud veteran, Doyle honorably served in the US Army and dedicated his career to AFG in Hawkins County. He was an active member of the VFW Post 9754 in Church Hill, Tennessee. In his leisure time, Doyle found joy in the great outdoors, often camping with his wife and close friends. His soul thrived in nature, whether he was casting a line in tranquil waters or perfecting his swing on the golf course. Doyle was not just a husband; he was a loving father, a supportive brother, and a steadfast friend, touching the lives of all who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, Doyle's memories he created will forever remain in our hearts.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Norman Dykes.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Mary Lou Dykes; brother Glen; sister Brenda; two adopted children Michael & Nedra; along with many other family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 1:00 pm – 2:45 pm at East Lawn Funeral Home. A memorial service to celebrate Doyle’s life will follow in the chapel at 3:00 pm with Pastor Ed. McClain. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Military rites will be provided by American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265 of Gate City, VA at 3:40 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Jude’s Hospital.
