Elmer Thomas

Elmer Thomas, age 73 of Kingsport, entered into everlasting life with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, February 15, 2018. Elmer was born on June 6, 1944 in Smyth County, VA to the late James Martin Thomas and the late Mary Kate Atkins.

Elmer loved his family. He cherished the time that he had with them and he left many memories for his family to carry on in their lives. Elmer loved being outdoors and farming. In his spare time you could find him fishing at the local hole and if the fish weren’t biting you would find Elmer whittling on the cedar.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory are the mother of Elmer’s children, Leona Laverne Thomas; sons, Robert Martin Thomas and wife Michelle, James A. Ferguson and wife Jennie, and Samuel Kermit Thomas and wife Barbara; daughters, Mary Thomas Evans and husband Thomas, Sheila Thomas Jackson and husband Billy, and Betty Jo Thomas Colley and husband Wayne; former spouse, Kathryn Helton and husband Lynn; brother, Robert Martin Thomas; sisters, Nancy Toon, and Betty Jo Compton; and grandchildren, James Jr., Kimberly Vanessa, David Jeffery, BJ Jackson, Robert Dakota, Rose Marie, Angel Grace, and Jasper Christian.
