Our treasure, Elmerine M. Westmoreland, age 68 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at Holston Manor. She was a Sullivan County native and the daughter of the late Bishop Ellis and Effie Marshall. Mrs. Westmoreland was a lifelong and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ, founded by her father. She was baptized (Acts 2:38) and filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. God’s presence within her was apparent by her beautiful smile, the twinkle in her eye, the bounce on the piano bench and in her finger tips across the keys and strings of any instrument that she touched. Her passion in life was her family and above all else, her walk with Jesus Christ. Her love for everyone and wide open arms “wings” were big enough to embrace us all. In our Sorrows, the angels are rejoicing because one more child has made it home.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Douglas Haynes and Joyce Ferrell.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Dennis Westmoreland; son, Joseph Westmoreland; daughters: Hope Rogers and husband Roy and Tonya Chisholm; grandchildren: Brian and wife Brittany, Devan, Crystal, Brandon, Hannah, Jalynn, Michaela, Joseph, Jr. and Siera; great grandchild, Makenzie; brothers: Mr. Clarence (Linda) Marshall, Mr. Bobby Marshall, Mr. Ellis H. (Melanie) Marshall, Jr., Mr. Jerry (Cindy) Marshall; sisters: Mrs. Mildred (L.C.) Osborne and Mrs. Shirley (Wayne) Coffey, along with several special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 25, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Ronald “Bo” Westmoreland, Evangelist Mildred Osborne, and Brother Larry Westmoreland. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be: Brandon Westmoreland, Philip Swain, Austin Westmoreland, Jeffery Marshall, Chad Marshall, and Justin Marshall. Honorary pallbearers will be Devan Amyx and Crystal Westmoreland. Everyone is asked to assemble in the cemetery by 1:45 pm. for the service.
The family would like to send a special thank You to Dr. Ronald Hunter and the nursing staff of Holston Manor. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be sent to 1307 Cobblestone Court, Johnson City, Tennessee, 37601 to help with the memorial marker for Mrs. Westmoreland.
