Elva Laughlin, age 70, departed this life to be with the Lord, on February 12, 2012. Born in Abingdon, Va., a daughter of the late Smith Joseph and Georgia Ray Sauls Widener, Elva had lived in Blountville for fifty three years. She was also preceded in death by seven sisters and three brothers. Due to her illness, Elva listened weekly to the radio broadcast of Pleasant View Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of fifty four years, Johnny “Albert” Laughlin, one son, Robert Allen Laughlin; one daughter, Cathy L. Johnson and her husband Joe; one granddaughter, Angel Johnson, all of Blountville; one sister, Dorothy Bridgeman of Bluff City. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Pleasant View Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastors Wayne Baker, Bob Ferguson, Johnny Gibson and Bobby Carter officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Gardner’s Chapel Cemetery.
