Evelyn “Eugenia” Smith, age 90, went home to be with her Lord Jesus on November 7, 2013 at Emeritus Assisted Living. Eugenia was born in Lincoln County, GA and was a longtime resident of North Georgia before moving to Kingsport in 1998. She was preceded in death by her parents, Percy Marvin and Wessie Marie Smalley Spiers; her husband of 48 years, L.B. Smith; and her two sisters. Eugenia served in the U.S. Army as a registered nurse during World War II. Survivors include her son, David L. Smith and wife Yvonne of Colbert, GA; her daughter, Nancy S. Strickland and husband, Reg of Kingsport; five grandchildren, Sara Goff and husband Lane, Stephen Strickland and wife Naomi, Ben Smith, Brad Smith and Kelci Wilson; one great-grandson, Asher Goff. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home, with funeral services to follow in the funeral home chapel. Entombment will be at East Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to West Colonial Hills Baptist Church.
