Franklin D. Dockery, 86, passed away during the evening hours of Sunday (June 23, 2019) with his loving family by his side. Franklin was born on March 14, 1933 in Mascot, TN to the late Richard & Callie (Walker) Dockery.
Franklin unselfishly served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was an avid golfer and UT fan, and he enjoyed raising his delicious tomatoes. He was the owner and operator of Kingsport Bumper Sales. Franklin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend; he will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, Franklin was preceded in death by three brothers, Jim and two infant brothers; and two sisters, Louise Diamond and Kathleen Scott.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 66 years, Virginia Dockery; daughter, Penny Helbert & husband John; grandson, Aaron Helbert & wife Vannessa; great-granddaughter, Charlotte Helbert; four brothers, Ray Dockery, Jerry Dockery & wife Nancy, Robert Dockery & wife Evelyn; Pat Dockery & wife Eva; two sisters, Emma Lou Howard & husband Ed, and Mary Ann Roch & husband Roger; brother-in-law, Ray Diamond; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday (June 26, 2019) from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the chapel at East Lawn Funeral Home. Franklin will be laid to rest following the visitation on Wednesday (June 26, 2019) at East Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of Love. Military rites will be provided by American Legions Posts 3/265.
