Helen Mae Newman

Helen Mae Newman, 84, of Kingsport, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Holston Valley Medical Center. Born on May 24, 1930 in Blountville, TN, she was the daughter of the late King David Newman and Katie White Newman. Ms. Newman was a 1949 graduate of Blountville High School. She attended Springdale Missionary Baptist Church in Kingsport and retired as manager from Wal Mart in Elizabethton. She is survived by her brother, Cecil Newman and his wife, Phyllis; niece, Michelle Carpenter and her husband, Marcus; great-niece, Caroline Carpenter; great-nephews, Drew and Nick Carpenter; and several cousins. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 4, 2014 from 1:00-2:30 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with the Reverend Alan Buckles officiating. At the request of the family, the committal services will be held in the Chapel following the funeral service. Burial will be in the Garden of Love at East Lawn Memorial Park.
