John Hardin Norris Jr.

John H. Norris, Jr., age 73, of Bristol, entered into rest on Monday, June 10, 2013, at the Hospice House in Bristol, after a brief illness. Mr. Norris was a native of Sullivan County, and the son of the late John H. and Mary Belle Norris, Sr. He was a former employee of the Brick Layers Allied Craftsman as a master mason. Mr. Norris loved flea markets and swap meets and he never stopped working with his hands.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Robert Norris and Billy Norris and a sister, Ida May Willis.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Phyllis J. Norris; son, Mark Norris (Stephanie Campbell); daughters: Kim Campbell (Brian) and Jennifer Norris; grandchildren: Jessica Norris, Heather Cartwright (Thomas Hubbard), Kasey Norris, Matthew Cartwright, Justin Norris (Hannah Yates), Josh Norris, Luke Wilson and Elijah Wilson; three great grandchildren: Harleigh Hubbard, Mason Norris and Tommy Hubbard; brother Tommy Norris and one sister, Mary Lou “Sis” Grills, along with several nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 13, 2013 from 2:30 until 3:30 in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home. A Graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. in East Lawn Memorial Park with Minister Paul Atkins, officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
