

Jonathan Justin Hurd, age 27, departed this life to be with his beloved savior on August 8, 2011 at Johnson City Medical Center, with his loving parents by his side. Jon was born in Kingsport, TN and was a lifelong resident of the area, and was the son and dear friend of Rodney and Gussie Hurd. He graduated from Sullivan North High School, then on to Mountain Empire Community College and was the owner and operator of Tri-City Towing and Recovery. Jon was formerly employed with the Holston Valley Medical Center and Bristol Regional Medical Center. He attended Gravely Baptist Church. Jon lived life, was fun loving and a friend to all, he will be greatly missed. He made everyone around him laugh, he loved people and people loved him. Jon’s love of the outdoors helped develop him into the avid hunter that he was.
Survivors, other than his parents, include one daughter, Kaylee Dawn Hurd, girl – friend Crystal Collins, two brothers, Jacob Hurd and wife Tara, Joseph Hurd and his girlfriend Caitlin Reynolds, one sister, Emily Hurd all of Kingsport, maternal grandmother, Sandra Smith of Nathalie, Va., paternal grandmother, Doris Calton of Kingsport, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and several cousins. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at East Lawn Funeral Home. A Celebration of His Life will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor David Salley officiating. Interment will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jacob Hurd, Joseph Hurd, Terry Hall, Jay Swecker, Travis Hurd, and Ryan McCrary.
