

Larry James “Jazzman” Harr, age 60, of Blountville entered heavens gates laughing and enjoying his family on Sunday (November 1, 2009) at his residence.
Born on September 19, 1949 in Kingsport, TN, he has resided in this area his entire life. He is the son of the late James Robert and Mary Ruth Smith Harr and is also preceded in death by numerous aunts and uncles.
Larry has been employed at Eastman Chemical Company for 36 years.
He was a veteran and served in the 3rd Army Band. He played in bands most of his life including, in the band “Trademark” for 18 years.
He held the Guinness World Record for the Longest Continuous Karaoke Party. Larry also held the world record for greatest husband, dad, granddad, booDaddy, brother, son and friend.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his lifelong friend, Jerry Boardwine and to all his Karaoke friends and fellow band members.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Cynthia S. Gray Harr; his children, James Kevin Harr and wife Stephanie, Michael Keith Harr and wife Tracy and Lauren Ashley Harr; his grandchildren, Emily Morgan Harr, Michael James Harr, Savannah Megan Harr, Madison Elizabeth Harr, Drew Tyler Harr, Sierra Grace Harr, Dillon Riley Harr and Abigail Grace Harr; one sister, Linda Harr Salyer and husband David; one niece, Linda Marie Salyer Smith; two nephews, Matthew Salyer and Jonathan Salyer. He is also leaving behind numerous aunts and uncles.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday (November 4, 2009) at East Lawn Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel with David Salyer and Bro. Charles Brooks officiating. Burial will follow graveside services at 11:00 a.m. Thursday (November 5, 2009) in Gunnings Cemetery where Cory Feagins will speak. Pallbearers will be Matthew Salyer, Jonathan Salyer, Lynn Feagins, Glenn Feagins, Grady Harr, Brandon Smith, Jerry Clark and Greg Bryant. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Boardwine, Bob Harr, Jim Bill Harr, Gene Harr, Doug Harr and Dave Harr. Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Gate City Post #265 and members of the Tennessee Army National Guard.
