Lydia M. Reed, age 84, of Bristol TN, was born on September 22, 1941, and passed away at her home, surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 28, 2026. She was an amazing, self-taught cook and everything she made was made with love. The Great Nana was known for immediately saying the phrase ‘get that’ any time anything was dropped. One of her favorite pastimes was reading in her favorite chair or on her favorite spot on the porch. Lydia had a green thumb and could grow any flower or plant. She also enjoyed sweets and greatly appreciated good coffee.
Lydia was preceded in death by her husband Charlie Reed and parents Jaak and Louisa Van den Sanden.
She is survived by her daughter Karen (John) Maden. Grandson Adam (Melodie) Maden. Brother Hugo (Alice) Van den Sanden. Brother-in-law and sister-in-law Richard & Tammy Reed. Her furgrandson Blue and two furgranddaughters Sylvia and Jolly. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Lydia’s good friend George Kendall for everything he has done for her.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm at East Lawn Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 11:00 am at East Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. John David Cruey presiding.
