

Maida B. Simpson, age 90, of Kingsport, entered into heaven on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the Indian Path Medical Center. She was a Greene County native and the daughter of the late Walter and Permeilla Brown. She was a former employee of J.P. Stevens and a member of Bays Mountain Baptist Church. Mrs. Simpson loved her flowers and spending time with her family and neighbors. She was a charter member of the Ladies Auxillary F.O.E. 3141. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Simpson in 1995, a twin sister Sadie, along with several other brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her sons: Wayland Simpson and wife Alma and Stan Simpson and wife Donna; daughter, Janice Winstead; grandchildren: Lisa Fleenor-Hammonds, Sherry King, Doug Simpson, Leslie Ludgate and Ashley Metcalf; great grandchildren: Dalton Hammonds, Rachel Hammonds, Holden Hammonds, Courtney Sanders, Jonathon Sanders and Conor Ludgate; great- great grandchildren: Noah Sanders and expected baby Hammonds; several nieces and nephews; special neighbors: Carl Bowman and Hartsell Livesay; special friends: Roger Hammonds, Jr., David Tilson and Harold Horton.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Lester Morelock, officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Roger Hammonds, Jr., Doug Simpson, Stan Simpson, Wayland Simpson, Dalton Hammonds, David Tilson, Tony Winstead and Bryan Sayler. Honorary pallbearer will be Holden Hammond.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennesee 38105.
