

Mamie Lucille “Lucy” Hilton, age 87 of Jonesborough, was comforted into the arms of Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior, during the late evening hours on Saturday, May 7, 2016. Mamie was born on October 12, 1928 in Kingsport, TN; and on August 12, 1948 she married her best friend and love of her life, Major William Keith Hilton. After 23 years of a beautiful marriage, he preceded her in death on December 20, 1971. Mamie was a homemaker throughout her lifetime; as spending time with her family was of the utmost importance to her. She loved her family and she was a devout Christian. She loved taking care of animals, especially her cats and birds, and she had a special gift of uplifting people when they were feeling down. Mamie will be remembered for her kindness, gentleness, loving and big hearted spirit. Mamie loved life and she always found solace in reading her Bible. Mamie was preceded in death by her parents; her loving and faithful husband, Major William Keith Hilton; one granddaughter, Sarah Hilton; and one son-in-law, Jack Miller. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Keith Hilton and wife Janice; daughter, Margaret Jo Miller; six grandchildren, Emily Gibson and husband John, Jack Miller, Jimmy Miller, Jody Miller, Jamie Miller, and Brenna Hilton; and six great-grandchildren, Joshua Miller, Taylor Miller, Trey Miller, Peyton Dickerson, Alisa Dickerson, and Julie Willis. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm in the Chapel at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 pm in the Chapel at East Lawn Funeral Home with Brother David Dotson officiating. Interment will immediately follow at East Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of the Apostles with Keith Hilton, Jack Hilton, Jimmy Miller and Jody Miller serving as pallbearers.
