Mary Ruth Guinn

Mary Ruth Guinn, age 97 of Blountville, TN, was taken up to Heaven in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 26, 2016. Mary was born to the late Jake Parker and the late Mary Ann Vail Parker on April 29, 1919 in Kingsport, TN. On December 22, 1938, Mary married her most cherished friend and love of her life, Mr. Glen T. Guinn, and after 66 years of a beautiful life together and raising a family, he preceded her in death in October of 2005.

Mary will be remembered for her compassion and dedication of taking care of her family, and she was a friend who could always be counted on. She was a great mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she was pure at heart. She loved singing and she was quick to quote her favorite poetry at the drop of a hat. Mary found peace in the simple things in life; she found solace in reading poetry and listening to music. Mary is preceded in death by her loving parents; her loving husband, Glen T. Guinn; one brother, Charles Parker; three sisters, Mattie Jennings, Peggy Click, and Kate Kennerly. Left to cherish her memory are her three sons, Jerry Guinn and wife Barbara J., Randy Guinn and wife Marie, and Fred Guinn and wife Barbara A.; grandchildren, Donna Archer and husband Monte, Ruth Ann Guinn, Ranetta Rockmore and husband Wayne, Andrea Reeves and husband Kevin, Clayton Guinn and wife Michelle, and Laura Guinn; great-grandchildren, Jason Gardner, Garrett Gardner, Ashley Lykins and husband Drew, and Matthew Guinn; great-great-grandchild, Ryan Gardner; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family members. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home.
