Nancy Kate Black

Nancy Horne Manis Black, age 85 of Blountville, TN, was united with her Heavenly Father during the evening hours of October 26, 2015. Nancy was born to the late Mr. James Horne and Mrs. Nellie Bullion Horne on August 30, 1930 in Blountville, TN. She married Mr. James Clifford Manis on December 2, 1950 and he preceded her in death in 1978. On April 1, 1982, she married Sylvester Black and he preceded her in death in 1990. Nancy will be remembered as a woman who loved her family and she enjoyed every moment with them. She found solace in being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a person who understood what “Family” truly meant. She will be remembered for her loving character and kind spirit. Nancy is survived by her children, Harold Manis and wife Linda, Judy Whitaker and husband Ray, Helen Thacker and husband Gene, Vinette Christian and husband Dennis, and Daniel Manis and wife Sara; daughter-in-law, Judy Manis; nine grandchildren, Gary Whitaker, Connie Kelley, Randall Begley, Bridget Carr, Renee’ Carmody, Michael Manis, Jennifer Christian, Joshua Christian, and Carter Manis; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; a special sister, Mary N. Garrett; two brothers, John Horne and Roy Horne; and several loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Nellie Bullion Horne; her first husband James Clifford Manis; and her second husband Sylvester Black; one son, J.C. Manis Jr.; one granddaughter, McKaelyn Manis; four brothers, Harold “Butch”, Claude, E.D., and J.W.; and four sisters, Ruth, Nita, Mabel, and Carrie. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 29, 2015 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home in Kingsport, Tennessee. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. immediately following visitation in the Chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Anglin officiating. Graveside service will be on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. in the Garden of Faith of East Lawn Memorial Park. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons and granddaughters.
