After a brief illness, Patsy Lane Potter, age 68, was lifted up to her heavenly home on Tuesday, December 13, 2016. She was born on October 13, 1948 in Kingsport, TN to the late Maldon Asbury and Bonnie Bertha (Bowery) Lane, Jr. She was a graduate of Sullivan High School, Class of 1966 and continued on to earn a Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Tennessee, Memphis. There, she met the love of her life, Billy Neal Potter, D.Ph. of Mosheim, TN.
Patsy lived her life in service to others especially caring for her beloved family. She enjoyed a rewarding career in Public Health serving for Sullivan County Health Department and Tennessee Department of Health in supervisory and program director positions. She took some time off from work to actively raise her two children Amy Potter Steisslinger (Greg) of Morristown, TN and Andrew Lane Potter (Lindsey) of Austin, TX. She was always generous with her time and talents. She took joy in volunteering at church and in the community, helping at school, cheering her children and grandchildren from the stands, attending dance competitions, leading Cub Scouts, and eagerly doing anything for her family. Patsy was also a valuable business partner with her husband in their family business, Potter's Pharmacy. She was a long-time, active member of Colonial Heights United Methodist Church and a member of the Fellowship Class. Patsy had a love for travel, cooking, and entertaining. She was a member of Carter's Fork Chapter DAR and Elijah Cross II Chapter of the War of 1812. Patsy, aka "Grammy", was happiest in her role as a devoted grandmother to Eli Gregory Steisslinger, Tyler William Steisslinger, Katherine June Potter and Alex Lane Potter.
Mrs. Potter is survived by her husband of 46 years, Bill, her children, Amy and Andy, her grandchildren, Eli, Ty, Kate, and Alex, her brother, Donald Wayne Lane and wife Ingrid of Kingsport, her sister, Linda L. Thiele Williams and husband Jim of Knoxville, her aunt, Mary Carter of Kingsport, several nephews and niece.
Patsy's legacy will thrive joyfully with all of those who had the honor and privilege of knowing her. Memories of her warm smile, unending kindness, generosity and her devotion to her precious family will touch us daily. She will be missed beyond words here on Earth but celebrated in eternal life with her Heavenly Father.
