Robert “Bob” Henry Chesnutt, 81, went to be with the Lord on May 15, 2018 at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. He worked as a Journeyman electrician for 35 years. Bob was a member of IBEW local 934. He and his wife, Janet, were members of the Kingsport Community Church for the past 45 years. Before becoming an electrician, Bob served his country in the United States Army, 24th Infantry Division, stationed in Germany during the building of the Berlin Wall. After his retirement, Bob enjoyed fishing.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Mildred Edith and John Henry Chesnutt and sister Irene Venable.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janet Elfreda Parker Chesnutt; son, Philip Ira Chesnutt and girlfriend April Fillers; daughter Cynthia “Cindy” Rachelle Welch and husband BJ; granddaughter, Whitney Welch and boyfriend, Roy Brown; brothers, John and Paul Chesnutt; sister Mary Ellen Chapman; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at East Lawn Funeral Home with funeral services following at 11:00 am. Pastor Ron Lowe officiating.
Graveside services will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of Gethsemane with military rites performed by the American Legion Post 3/265.
